Hi There!
I'm Kelsey Anbuhl, a postdoctoral fellow in Dan Sanes' laboratory at the Center for Neural Science at New York University.
About Me
I am interested in how developmental hearing loss contributes to sensory and cognitive processing of auditory signals. I grew up in Mobile, Alabama where I attended a small liberal arts college in my hometown. I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, and moved to Denver, CO where I received my PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
My current work addresses the perceptual and cognitive changes following adolescent hearing loss. My interest in hearing loss research stems from both my professional experience and a personal one, as I was diagnosed with a significant hearing loss early in life. Navigating the academic path with hearing loss has given me a greater sense of purpose for my work, and motivates my involvement in a peer-mentorship group for scientists with disabilities as well as with the Hearing Loss Association of America advocating for deaf/hard-of-hearing young adults.
